Advanced Settings for the Webcam Plugin

The default settings are set for optimum performance and should not be changed.

 

Settings for Snapshots/Still Images

Scale image
The pictures will be captured in the standard size of 640x480 pixels in .jpg format. Use this option to re-scale the picture to any other size supported by your webcam.

 

Settings for Audio/Video Capturing

Maximum length of video (seconds)
The default length of the videos is limited to 10 seconds, which is equal to a compressed file size of approx. 300 kb (depending on compression rate).

Maximum length of audio (seconds)
The default length of audio recordings is limited to 30 seconds, which is equal to a compressed file size of approx. 200 kb (depending on compression rate).

 

MediaMail Button

Show Webcam button in SiteKiosk browser bar
As soon as you check this box, an additional icon will appear in the toolbar. This button will open up a MediaMail page.

 

User-Defined Compression Settings

The challenge with sending video greetings by e-mail is to keep data size small and user/recipient costs low.

The videos' high compression rate (80 MB avi equals approx. 300 KB of video mail) is achieved by modern compression codecs like the "Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec V3," the "Windows Media Audio V2," or the "MPEG Audio Layer 3 Codec."

We recommend using the default settings for compressing your data. If you want to select a different compression rate, we urge you to check the quality of the recording you are getting.

 

Storage Settings

Save recorded files
Activate this option to store local copies of all recorded media files. The files will be stored in subfolders (Photos, Video, Voice) of the ..\SiteKiosk\SiteCam\Recordings directory. They will be stored for 30 days, older files will be deleted automatically.
