Criteria Database Update (manually)
Update
The database will be updated automatically unless you changed this setting under ADVANCED. To be on the safe side, you can always update the criteria database manually at any time. During the update process the local entries will be compared to those located on the PROVISIO server.
You can also download the Content Filter database manually at http://www.sitekiosk.com/download/tools/coachdata.zip. Unzip the file and copy it to the following path in the SiteKiosk installation folder: ../SiteKiosk/SiteCoach/coachdata.bin.
Notes and tips:
- Web pages are not being displayed
The Content Filter does not support automatic proxy configuration. If you set an automatic proxy configuration, you should ask your administrator for a fix proxy address and enter it. You can alter the proxy settings on the connection page of SiteKiosk configuration or in the Internet Explorer under TOOLS/INTERNET OPTIONS/CONNECTIONS/LAN Settings. Please note that the IE setting is a user-specific setting that needs to be configured as well for the user you want to run SiteKiosk with (e.g. the SiteKiosk user).
- Harmless web pages are being blocked
Under Customize you can enter pages you do not want to be blocked in the future. It will also be helpful if you send these URLs to us by e-mail.
- Firewalls: The Content Filter uses the HTTP port (80). No other ports are necessary.
- Pages to be blocked are not being blocked
If you have loaded pages in the regular IE you want to be blocked in SiteKiosk, but did not clear the cache, they may not be blocked by the Content Filter. You have to clear the cache or reboot the machine.
- The Content Filter will also work together with applications like AVM-KEN.
